Over 30 Central Bedfordshire schools show their pedal power

Pupils at over 30 schools in Central Bedfordshire recently pedaled an amazing 31,519 scooter and bike journeys to school during the national Big Pedal competition, which ran from 23 April to 4 May. The Big Pedal is a national challenge between schools to get more young people cycling and scooting.

Schools throughout Central Bedfordshire got active on their way to school during ‘Walk to School Week’, which was held from 21-25 May. Central Bedfordshire Council supported over 2,000 local pupils by supplying classes with Walk to School Week resource packs.

Cycle parking stands available in Flitwick, Ampthill, Harlington, Dunstable and Houghton Regis

Voluntary sector groups, businesses, shops, offices, cafés, pubs, churches, dental practices and surgeries in Flitwick, Ampthill, Harlington, Dunstable and Houghton Regis can get free cycle parking under the community cycle parking schemes run by ParkThatBike (supported by Travel Choices).

*The bike parking stands are free of charge, but you are responsible for installing them on your own property (we provide full instructions) in a location agreed with ParkThatBike

Dial-a-Ride

South Beds Dial-a-Ride and Luton Shopmobility have launched Shopmobility schemes into four towns - Dunstable, Houghton Regis, Leighton Buzzard and Linslade.

An electric scooter may be hired by South Beds Dial-a-Ride and Luton Shopmobility members for use around designated shopping areas in each of the four towns.

South Beds Dial-a-Ride members can book an electric scooter on 01525 220044, which is then delivered with the passenger to their chosen shopping centre and returned to base after hire.
