Bike recycling success in Flitwick

Thank you to everyone who donated a bike to our recycling scheme on Saturday 7 September in Flitwick. We received over 70 bikes which are currently being serviced, ready for their new homes.

Since the Bike Recycling Scheme, which is run jointly with Luton Borough Council and Bedford Borough Council, started in April 2017 around 670 bikes have been saved from the scrapheap and re-homed.

In many cases, these bikes change lives; some have helped long-term unemployed people get back into work and others have provided a source of transport and independence for children in care.

If you have any questions about bike recycling, or you’d like a list of recycled bikes currently available, contact the Travel Choices team travelchoices@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk
